GET Baltic Newsletter #5
Dear trading participants,

We are rapidly approaching the Onboarding Phase of our planned integration of Baltic-Finnish gas markets into EEX. In a few weeks time, we will be able to provide you with all necessary documents to become a trading participant at EEX.

In addition to membership at EEX, admission to clearing at European Commodity Clearing (ECC) is also required. In its role as a central counterparty, ECC positions itself between the seller and the buyer and assumes the counterparty risk. For the admission at ECC, there are two different options: Admission as Non-Clearing Member (NCM) or the newly introduced Direct Clearing Participant (DCP) Model.

In this newsletter, we will provide you with more detailed information about both membership options to facilitate your decision.

Enjoy reading.

NCM Membership
Non-Clearing Members take part in clearing as clients of a Clearing Member (CM) on the markets for which ECC provides clearing services. For the transactions to be cleared, the NCM has to contact a CM of his choice. The legal relationship between an NCM and a CM is defined by the Clearing Conditions and the NCM Agreement. Within this relationship, the CM takes over financial settlement in order to perform financial transactions through one interface.

* Customers are highly welcome to start choosing the relevant CM straight away, not waiting for admission packages to be published.

DCP Model simply explained
The DCP model enables trading participants on selected spot markets to become direct members of ECC, granting them access to clearing and settlement services provided by the clearing house. The DCP membership option allows small and medium sized companies to participate without the need for a Clearing Member. All trading by a DCP is pre-collateralized, limiting the exposure to available collateral.

Make sure to watch our DCP video to find out how exactly this works:
